Light Dramatic, April 2nd at Brett Wesley Gallery

Las Vegas, Nevada, April 2, 2009 —Brett Wesley Gallery announces the exhibition for Light Dramatic. Join us Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 6:00pm at the Newport Lofts, 200 Hoover Ave. in penthouse suite 2109. Light Dramatic, features established artists Michael Stillman from Las Vegas, Andrew Myers from Laguna Beach, California, and Amber George from San Diego, California.

Michael Stillman  – Las Vegas-born Stillman was 6 when his father built him a dark room and taught the boy about photography, it has been his life’s passion ever since. At 66 Stillman is busy capturing the day-to-day progress of the Lou Ruvo Brain Institute in a vivid photographic discovery. But that’s only the beginning; Stillman’s jumping back into the fine art world with a collection of new images never before seen. Stillman’s light-painting photographs are abstract menageries of fluid shapes and energetic colors – all shot on film and without any digital manipulation. Borrowing techniques he learned from theater set design and movie production, this veteran photographer built sets and reflected light to create mesmerizing images. This rare collection was shot during the 1980’s & 90’s with 35mm and 4×5 view film-based cameras, in limited editions exclusively available at Brett Wesley.

Andrew Myers takes sculpture to a brilliant new level through his expertise with bronze and his candid depictions of the human condition. It is his unification of craftsmanship, subject matter, and unique insights that have made his works so highly acclaimed and celebrated nationwide. Andrew has many large public art works that line the streets of Laguna Beach.

Amber George – Amber’s abstract paintings are both soft and strong, using a palate of subtle but insinuating colors that evoke the inherent beauty of nature. Through the multiple layers of the encaustic medium, she creates organic textures that let you experience the depth and sensation of her unique visions.

Brett Wesley art receptions are being held at Newport Lofts while the gallery at 1112 Casino Center is undergoing extensive renovations. When the gallery is finished, it will be a new star in the Las Vegas Arts District. In the meantime, Newport Lofts is sponsoring this exciting show with a penthouse view of the city.

What makes Brett Wesley Gallery distinctive is the unique blend of emerging and established artists rarely seen in the Las Vegas valley.
