Local artist Danny Robert presents evolutioN EXTinction

Las Vegas, Nevada, November 5, 2009 — Brett Wesley Gallery is proud to present evolutioN EXTinction by Las Vegas artist Danny Roberts. Opening and artist reception is Thursday, November 5, 2009 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the glorious new Brett Wesley building located at 1112 Casino Center Blvd. on the corner of Charleston Blvd.

In the evolutioN EXTinction series, Roberts paints a cautionary fantasy where artifacts of our present day have become the future’s history. The paintings depict what a future archeologists might piece together from the remains of our culture–but they don’t get it quite right. They conclude that this bygone civilization was aggressive and competitive with a seemingly endless array of strange artifacts and adornments. However, do these artifacts imply the extinction of one culture or the evolution to another one? Roberts explains, “From the perspective of our situation right now, people are coming to the conclusion that they have already bought everything they can buy. So the interesting question my paintings dwell on is what would be left behind as we shifted away from consumption and materialism? No matter what happens next, our game systems, clothes and iPhones will certainly become extinct and using those elements visually drives certain ideas home more intimately with amusing results.”

Brett Wesley Gallery represents Danny Roberts throughout the Southwest. His work has been placed in many private collections and shown in several key cities and exhibitions including: Palm Springs, Sacramento, Portland, and Las Vegas. He has received numerous acknowledgments and magazine reviews including: Luxury Las Vegas, Nevada Magazine, Revive Lifestyle Magazine and the Las Vegas Weekly.

Brett Wesley art receptions are held once a month at 1112 Casino Center Blvd. on the corner of Charleston Blvd. The gallery building itself is a nod to mid-century modernism, urban chic and classic American roadside architecture.
