Brett Wesley Gallery Premieres “Love & Power”

One-night-only event at Newport Lofts features emerging artists from Nevada, California and Utah.

Las Vegas, Nevada, January 16, 2009 — Brett Wesley Gallery announced today the exhibition Love & Power on display one night only, Thursday, January 22, 2009 from 6:30 to 9:30pm at the Newport Lofts, 200 Hoover Ave., in penthouse suite 2109. Love & Power, features emerging artists Olga Minkevitch of Las Vegas, John Bell from Utah, and Nathan Fischer from California.

Olga Minkevitch depicts a woman’s inner emotions as elegant expressions with simple form in her series, “Love in Black & White.” While mastering the skills of classic black and white photography, Minkevitch’s primary theme is self-portraiture.  Minkevitch received the top honor Mamiya Award of Excellence and a full page spread in American Photo magazine for her works completed during intensive ten month photography program at Hallmark Institute of Photography. Minkevitch now resides in Las Vegas, after leaving Russia.

John Bell’s work combines abstract expressionism with geometric abstraction on large dimensional canvases. Bell employs multiple disciplines including silk screened, pop art images using thematic cues about identity, social issues, beauty and human loss. Bell was recently accepted into the inaugural debut of The Artist Fair in Miami Beach. The fair runs in conjunction with the prestigious Art Basel, the most important art show in the United States and a sister event to the 39-year-old Switzerland show.

Nathan Fischer’s distinctive work combines the patina process used in bronze sculpture, with the qualities and tone of contemporary painting. His artwork is made even more unique through his exclusive use of bronze panels rather than canvas. Pigments are not applied to the panels–instead there is a transformation of the color of the metal itself through the patina process. Fischer currently resides in Orange County, CA and also has a studio in Monterey, CA.

Brett Wesley Gallery receptions are held monthly at Newport Lofts while the gallery at 1112 Casino Center is undergoing extensive renovations. The gallery’s grand opening, slated for summer 2009, will introduce a premiere destination for high-end artwork in the Las Vegas Arts District. In the meantime, Newport Lofts is sponsoring the series of receptions in a top floor penthouse view unrivaled views of the city. The event is open to the public but space is limited.
