Thomas Brummett

Thomas Brummett has been working as a professional photographer and artist since 1983 when he graduated with a Master of Fine Arts from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. Thomas currently lives and works in Philadelphia.

Selections from Thomas Brummett’s new series Animalis are on view at The North Dakota Museum of Art in a group exhibition titled Animals: Them and Us, until February 7, 2009. His portraits of animals present them as individuals with great psychological depth and intensity. The Series title Animalis is from the Latin term meaning literally  “to have breath”  and the origin of the our modern word for animal. “This series of animal portraits is my attempt (as in most of my work)  to collect specimen’s from the natural world for my own personal “Cabinet of Wonder”.  “My goal is for the images from this series to be part photograph and part cave drawing,  part document and part dream… “
