Nathan Douglas, one of our favorite absurdists, returns to the gallery this November with "Passing By." In this photo and video series, Douglas mixes the banal with the peculiar as he continues his observation of all things Americana with wit and humor.
Nathan Douglas began pursuing photography directly out of high school and began working as an assist to Las Vegas based photographers. Douglas studied photography at the College of Southern Nevada and is currently working as commercial and fine art photographer. In addition to photography, he spends a majority of his time focused on writing screenplays and directing films. Douglas recently moved to Los Angles to further pursue his passion for fine art photography.
“Face Value”, Nathan Douglas brings his flair for absurd narratives to the realm of fetish. His visual style features high contrast and bold colors to create photographic images which are striking and unforgettable. Douglas creates an alternate reality for his subjects and incorporates a playful and high fashion style to the overall image. The subject matter of his work can be described as taboo, striking, and intriguing.
